Help
Questions, answered.
The things customers write in about most, answered properly. If yours is not here, ask us and we will add it.
Ordering and delivery
- How long will my order take to arrive?
- Orders placed before midday on a business day are usually packed the same day, and anything later goes out the next working day. The courier's own estimate is shown at checkout and on our shipping page, which reads the current figures rather than a number typed into an answer here.
- What does delivery cost?
- A flat rate per order anywhere in South Africa, and free above a set order value. Both figures appear in your cart and again at checkout before you are asked to pay, and the shipping page shows the current ones.
- Do you deliver outside South Africa?
- Not at the moment. If you are elsewhere and want our oils, write to us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
- How do I track my parcel?
- You get an email when the order is confirmed and another when it is dispatched, and the dispatch email carries the tracking details. The status of every order is also on your account page.
- Can I change my delivery address after ordering?
- If the parcel has not been dispatched, yes. Message us with your order number as soon as you can. Once a parcel is with the courier the address is fixed and a redirect costs another delivery fee.
Using the oils
- Do I need to dilute essential oils before using them?
- Yes. Pure essential oils are concentrated and belong in a carrier oil before they touch skin, usually a few drops in a tablespoon. Our roller blends and anointing oils are already diluted and are ready to use as they are.
- What is the difference between an essential oil and a roller blend?
- An essential oil is the undiluted botanical extract, which you blend yourself. A roller blend is that oil already diluted in a carrier and bottled with a rollerball, made to go straight onto skin.
- What is an anointing oil for?
- Anointing oils are made for prayer, blessing and moments that carry weight. They are traditionally used sparingly, a touch to the forehead or hands. Ours are blended to be used on skin.
- How should I store them, and how long do they last?
- Cool, dark and tightly closed. Sunlight and heat are what degrade an oil. Kept properly, most of our oils are at their best for one to two years, and citrus oils are the shortest lived of them.
- Why does the same oil smell slightly different between batches?
- Because it is a plant, not a formula. Harvest, season and soil all move the scent a little. We would rather you got a real botanical that varies than a consistent synthetic one.
Safety
- Can I use these while pregnant or breastfeeding?
- Ask your doctor or midwife first. Several essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy, and this is not a question we can responsibly answer for you in general terms.
- Are they safe for children?
- Keep all essential oils out of reach of children. Some are unsuitable for young children even when diluted, so speak to a healthcare professional before using them on a child.
- What if I have a reaction?
- Stop using it and wash the area with a carrier oil rather than water, which spreads it. Patch test anything new on a small area first. If a reaction is severe, see a doctor, and please tell us as well.
- Can I take them internally?
- No. Our oils are cosmetic and wellness preparations, not medicines or food, and they are not made for swallowing.
Orders, payment and returns
- How do I pay?
- By card through Paystack, which handles the payment securely. Your card details go to them and never touch our servers.
- Can I return something?
- Yes. You have seven days to change your mind on an unopened product, and six months to bring back anything defective, with the choice of a repair, a replacement or a refund. The returns page sets out both in full.
- Something arrived broken. What now?
- Photograph it before you clean it up and tell us within 48 hours. We replace breakage in transit, and the photograph is what lets us claim from the courier.
- Do I need an account to order?
- No, you can check out as a guest. An account is only worth it if you want your order history and addresses kept for next time.
